about

The second instalment in a three album release that also includes "Small" & "Large".
The songs on this album fit into the middle ground between the quieter, acoustic tunes on "Small" and the bigger, noisier arrangements on "Large"....so "Medium" seemed a good title.....they've still mostly got acoustic guitars in the mix, but they've also got drums and electric guitars.

Track Name: Always
I was blinded fool
'Cause I couldn't see
And I looked right through
What was right in front of me
Without a care
For what might be
You waited there
So patiently

CHORUS
Perhaps I always knew
Maybe it was always true
That it was always you….for me

I did not listen
No, I couldn't hear
Though the message you were sending me
Was loud and clear
All those wasted days
All the months and years
I heard the call from far away
And missed your whisper in my ear

CHORUS
Perhaps I always knew
Maybe it was always true
That it was always you….for me

BRIDGE
Oh, my chance has gone
Now that you've moved on
I'll try to get along......somehow
And to this I swear
I will be more aware
Of who is standing there
Right here, right now

CHORUS
Perhaps I always knew
Maybe it was always true
That it was always you….for me

Track Name: Tracing Lines
I’ll tell you something you should know
The parts don’t add up to the whole
Right here, right now
Is all there is to understand
No fortunes told or mystic signs
Will yet unfold from tracing lines
Upon your hand

Your eyes were shining like the sun
I spoke of what we’d left undone
I’ll take the skies
You can keep the seas and lands
My greatest fear was wasting time
Just sitting here and tracing lines
Across the sand

BRIDGE
I’m going home
This island life is not for me
I’m cut and dried
Without a hint of mystery
At night I dream of being carried out to sea

That my heart fails is no surprise
I ran my race this was my prize
Your careless words
Are causing more harm than was planned
There’s nothing else for us to find
We lost ourselves just tracing lines
To where we stand

BRIDGE
I’m going home
This island life is not for me
I’m cut and dried
I’m far beyond all mystery
But late at night I dream of being carried out to sea

Track Name: Ups & Downs
We had our ups
Lord, we had our downs
And we got lost
But we’d end up found
Though we’ve been broke
Never once felt poor
‘Cause we had enough
Never wanted more

CHORUS
If I could turn back time
And do it all again
If you would still be mine
I wouldn't change a thing

When we were tired
Sleep came at last
Then we were sick
But the fever passed
We said our prayers
But still committed sin
Fell out of love but straight away
Fell right back in

CHORUS
If I could turn back time
And do it all again
If you would still be mine
I wouldn't change a thing

BRIDGE
Don’t miss a single beat
Leave one moment out of place
Perhaps we’d never meet
Would I ever see your face?

We had our ups
Lord, we had our downs
We got so lost, somehow we’d
Always end up found
Said our goodbyes
‘Most every day
You still feign surprise
When you hear me say

CHORUS
If I could turn back time
And do it all again
If you would still be mine
I wouldn't change a thing
If you would still be mine
I wouldn't change a thing

Track Name: Brand New Me
I'm gonna change if you really want me to
I'm gonna change if it means I can stay with you
Is there any part of me you’d like to save
Tell me ‘cause I'm gonna throw it all away
I'm gonna change if you really want me to

I'm gonna change if you think it's for the best
I'm gonna change if it'll help me pass your test
Gonna change my stripes and change my spots
Change from a caterpillar to a moth
I'm gonna change if you think it's for the best

CHORUS
I'm gonna change, just wait and see
Out of the flames will come a brand new me
Nothing remains of the man that are used to be

I'm gonna change if you tell me it'll do me good
I'm gonna change if you really think I should
A whole new body and a whole new face
Every little bit of me will be replaced
I'm gonna change if you tell me it'll do me good

CHORUS
I'm gonna change, just wait and see
Out of the flames will come a brand new me
Nothing remains of the man that are used to be

I’m gonna change if it makes you love me more
I’m gonna change if it helps unlock your door
Oh, I’ll do anything to make you mine
But promise that you’ll never gonna change your mind
I’m gonna change if it makes you love me more
I’m gonna change if it makes you love me more
I’m gonna change if it makes you love me more

Track Name: Destiny
There are some lucky folks I guess
Who get more than their fair share of happiness
But look again and you'll find guys just like me
Who spend half of their lives here in misery
Because guys just like me we've all met ourselves girls just like you
And when you finally leave us the only thing we know how to do

CHORUS
We drink and we fight and we stay up all night
Howling like a wolf at the moon
And we think and we cry and we ask ourselves why
We're always left alone in our room
Is it there in our stars and just the way that we are
We can fight it but what good does that do?
When destiny has got a plan for me
And the plan is that I've gotta lose you

There are unlucky folks no doubt
Who believe they can change what the Fates have laid out
But there's no time and there's no place meant for us
When it's been decided that we can't be in love
I know a future waiting out there, it's just not happened yet
Perhaps you're promised to another boy you've not even met

CHORUS
I drink and I fight and I stay up all night
Howling out my songs at the moon
And I think and I cry and I ask myself why
I’m always left alone in my room
Is it there in our stars and just the way that we are
We can fight it but what good does that do?
When destiny has got a plan for me
And the plan is that I've gotta lose you

BRIDGE
The path we’re on was chosen from the the moment we were born
The sadness comes from not accepting what life has in store

Track Name: Miracle
I’m not asking you to
Walk on the water
Or turn the water into wine
Oh, Lord, I’m gonna need more
Than a miracle this time

With just some loaves and some fish
You feed all those standing in line
Save the poor, heal the sick
Restore sight to the blind
But Lord, I’m gonna need more
Than a miracle this time

BRIDGE
I’ve fallen too far down
Beyond all help
With nowhere to hide
I’d kneel on the floor
But I’m gonna need more
Than faith and prayer can provide

You help the crippled to walk
Teach the tongue-tied to talk
Give back life
When mortal flesh has died
Oh, Lord, I’m gonna need more
Than a miracle this time

Calm the fiercest of storms
‘Cause the locusts to swarm
Part the seas ‘til we reach
The other side
But Lord, I’m gonna need more
Than a miracle this time
Oh, Lord, I’m gonna need more
Than a miracle this time

Track Name: More
No, I don't want more
I've got quite enough
There's just no room left in my life
For all this stuff
So I'm sizing down
And I'm shedding weight
Then I'm gonna kiss goodbye to this town
If it's not too late

CHORUS
I'm gonna travel light
Just one change of clothes
Where my next meal is coming from
God only knows

There's so many things
That I just don't use
I made a list of what I'd miss
If I were to lose
You can take my books
And my old LPs
'Cause I've got a copy locked away
In my memory

CHORUS
I'm gonna travel light
Just one change of clothes
Where my next meal is coming from
God only knows

BRIDGE
Yeah, one fine day
I'm giving it all away
I don't need all this to live
If I can't fit it in my pack
If I can't carry it on my back
I know something's gotta give

No, I don't want more
I've sure had my fill
My legs are aching, feet are sore
From climbing up that hill
We're fighting gravity
We're in a race that no-one wins
I'm breaking free
To find the feeling that free-wheeling brings

CHORUS
I'm gonna travel light
Just one change of clothes
Where my next meal is coming from
God only knows

Track Name: Don't Look For Me
I could always tell
It would end like this
No fond farewell
No goodbye kiss
Just an empty peg
That once held your coat
An unmade bed
A simple note….it said,

CHORUS
"I'm gone and you know why
We can't go on living out this lie
I've had enough, I'm breaking free
All out of love, don't look for me"

I always knew
We weren't meant to be
'Cause I'm wrong for you
That’s plain to see
No sound is heard
Except my silent prayer
Your parting words
Still hanging in the air….they said,

CHORUS
"I'm gone and you know why
We can't go on living out this lie
I've had enough, I'm breaking free
All out of love, don't look for me"

INSTRUMENTAL

BRIDGE
Then from the dark
As clear as day
It breaks my heart
When I hear you say….you said,

CHORUS
"I'm gone and you know why
We can't go on living out this lie
I've had enough, I'm breaking free
All out of love, don't look for me"
All out of love, don't look for me

Track Name: Cast The First Stone
I've made mistakes
Show me somebody who ain't
I've tried and I've failed
And fallen every step of the way
With all of my might
There are some things I will never get right
But I crossed a line
And I don’t think you’ll forgive me this time

CHORUS
I did you wrong
I can’t undo what’s been done
Find me a man without sin
And let him cast the first stone

I lost my way
This human nature led me astray
Now I’m down and I’m out
Racked with indecision and doubt
We all in the same boat
Just trying hard to keep it afloat
But we sail the seas on our own
And slowly sink, together alone

CHORUS
I did you wrong
I can’t undo what’s been done
Find me a man without sin
And let him cast the first stone

BRIDGE
Come on and cast the first stone
Is it too late to atone?
You all can join in as one
And together cast the first stone

CHORUS
I did you wrong
I can’t undo what’s been done
Find me a man without sin
And let him cast the first stone
Cast the first stone

Track Name: Truth
It's another Tuesday night, another scarce half-empty bar
A man gets up on stage to play a battered steel guitar
He sang out every song like he had lived out every line
And I watched and wondered how he touched a hardened heart like mine

He covered tunes I must’ve heard a hundred times before
But he did them in a way I wished he stayed and played some more
As he was packing up to go I asked to buy that man a beer
I want to know his secret, how’d he make it sound so sincere

CHORUS
I can’t sing it if I don’t mean every word
‘Cause you might leave here disbelieving what you’ve heard
I can’t fake it or I might not make it through
So please believe me ‘cause I’m singing you the truth

When it was my turn to perform I could’ve sworn the man was gone
But I saw him standing by the door as I was starting my first song
I thought of every verse and every chorus, every rhyme
And how to make those twenty people in the bar really feel this song was mine

CHORUS
I can’t sing it if I don’t mean every word
‘Cause they might leave here disbelieving what they’ve heard
I can’t fake it or I might not make it through
So please believe me ‘cause I’m singing you the truth

BRIDGE
What’s a song worth if it don’t come from the heart?
It’s a fine line ‘tween false and genuine, can you tell the two apart?
What’s a song worth if it don’t come from deep inside
I won’t stand up here before you if I think you think I’ve lied

CHORUS
I can’t sing it if I don’t mean every word
‘Cause you might leave here disbelieving what you’ve heard
I can’t fake it or I might not make it through
So please believe me ‘cause I’m singing you the truth
